BREAKING NEWS Rite AidWalgreens To Close In Wilmington

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — Rite Aid, which recently transitioned its pharmacy to a Walgreens, is closing in Wilmington.The store’s pharmacy is closing on June 26. The entire store, located at 208 Main Street, will be closed shortly thereafter once a storewide clearance sale is held.The pharmacy’s prescriptions will be automatically transferred to the Walgreens in Tewksbury (2341 Main Street) unless a customer requests an alternate pharmacy.In 2017, Rite Aid had 4,536 locations worldwide. Walgreens purchased 1,932 of those locations for $4.4 billion last year and is in the process of closing 600 of them.While the closure was rumored, it was made official when employees recently posted signs in and around the store.Walgreens previously closed in Wilmington back in June 2015. Its former location at 277 Main Street remains empty nearly three years later.The town will be conducting a market analysis along this portion of the Route 38 corridor this summer in an effort to attract new businesses to vacancies in the area.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
