FinnHarps have offered the Donegal Road Safety Working Group a freeadvertising hoarding in Finn Park to continue its ongoing commitmentto raising the awareness of the dangers on our roads. Finn Harps willbe playing in the Premier Division this season and this will be thefirst time since the Primary School Art competition was first launchedthat Finn Harps will be playing in the top division of football inIreland. Finn Harps will begin their Premier campaign with an excitingNorth West derby game against Derry City at Finn Park on Friday 4thMarch and the winners of the Art competition will be announced at thisgame.The Road Safety advertising hoarding will be designed by a studentfrom one of the county’s Primary Schools through an open artcompetition. The competition was officially launched in Lifford by theChief Executive, Seamus Neely, Director of Roads, John McLaughlin,John Campbell, Kevin McHugh Finn Harps F.C., Grace Ann McGarvey, GraceAnn Consultancy, teachers and  schoolchildren from St.Columba’s N.S.,Ballylast, Castlefinn. Speaking at the launch, Brian O’Donnell, Road Safety Officer said, “Weare delighted with the continued efforts of Finn Harps Football Clubto help us promote greater awareness of the dangers on our roads. Wehad over 700 entries from Primary School children last year. It isfantastic that such high numbers take part and we hope that all whotook part will have an increased awareness of road safety. I wouldlike to thank the teachers for their help in promoting the artcompetition”.Entries must be original and the applicant’s own work and should be onpaper no larger than A3 size. Details are currently being sent to allprimary schools in the county and the competition has a closing dateof the 12th February 2016.Finn Harps Football in the Community Officer, John Campbell, stated,“We are delighted to be associated with this Road Safety awarenesscampaign. As the Senior Soccer club in Donegal we feel that there is aresponsibility on us, as there is with others, to promote the RoadSafety Message. This is the seventh year that Finn Harps and theDonegal Road Safety Working Group have organised the competition andthe numbers that have submitted entries since it was first launchedhas been excellent.
