World Cup 2019: Unruly fans fight, invade pitch after Pakistan beat Afghanistan in thriller

first_imgAfter clashes erupted between fans from both sides before the World Cup 2019 encounter between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Headingley, the ground saw further violent clashes even when the match got over. Tensions ran high amongst supporters throughout the match marking it as the 1st instance in this World Cup to witness eviction of fans from the premises.Fans who were ticketless and cheering for the team from outside the stadium turned on each other and started vandalising stadium property. The instigators have been booked by the Yorkshire police and banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for rest of the matches.The fight started after a Afghan fan accidentally brushed past an old person who was a Pakistani supporter.
